Northampton film festival pitch call out

Northampton is a place of Rebels and Revolutionaries, Misfits and Mavericks, Creatives and Changemakers.

 

Do you have a short or feature film idea

which fits one of those themes?

Submit your pitch to Northampton Film Festival for a chance to pitch live at their new Northants Creative Industries Expo 2023 and receive feedback from a panel of industry professionals.

1.Create a free pitch on SMASH. We require you to submit the logline, format, genre, setting, running time, status, creative team, synopsis, creative vision and comparables although we appreciate they all may be Work In Progress answers. We DO NOT require a script, treatment, cast, budget, finance plan or video although if you have them, you are welcome to include them.

2.When you’ve completed your pitch, click SHARE PROJECT, creating your project’s snapshot.

3.Copy the link of your SMASH snapshot and email it info@northamptonfilmfestival.co.uk

4.Everyone who emails us their snapshot is invited to join us for an hour of free online training on Pitching and Presenting Essentials from Skills Channel TV on Monday 13th November at 6pm. Skills Channel TV is a Northants-based training and development company whose previous clients include the British Film Institute, BAFTA, BECTU, Creative England, BBC, ITV and many more.

5.Northampton Film Festival will choose a shortlist of up to 6 projects.

6.The shortlisted projects will attend a free in-person pitch preparation session with SMASH at the Northants Creative Industries Expo 2023 on Friday 24th November and attend our free networking straight afterwards in the bar.

7.LIVE PITCH on Saturday 25th November at the Expo for the shortlisted projects! You will get 5 minutes to pitch their project to an industry panel and receive verbal feedback then and there.

We know pitching can be scary so it’s our intention this event is super friendly and supportive! This opportunity to designed to help you hone your pitching skills so when you’re next in a position to pitch, you’ve got it down! So there aren’t any prizes or commissions but it should prove a valuable experience.

Rules and deadlines 

This is open to any UK resident aged 18 or above. Projects can be at any stage. Each project must have someone available to attend the pitching preparation session 2pm – 4pm on Friday 24th November and pitch on Saturday 25th November 11am – 12.30pm at the Northants Creative Industries Expo 2023 at the University of Northampton.

Deadline for submissions: Monday 30th October 2023.

Notification date: Friday 3rd November 2023.

Optional online training for all who have submitted Monday 13th November.

Pitch preparation session with SMASH: 2pm-4pm Friday 24th November 2023.

Pitching date: 11am – 12.30pm Saturday 25th November 2023.
